POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Sr. Aquatic Director the Assistant Aquatic Director is responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, directing, budgeting, and evaluating aquatic programs in accordance with the YMCA's mission and policies. This role includes supervising staff, ensuring safety standards, and maintaining high-quality member-focused programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree is preferred.
- One to two years’ related experience preferred.
- Completion of Lifeguard Certification, CPR/AED training.
- Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of YMCA aquatic trends and best practices.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Enforces policies and procedures as required.
- Maintains a safe and clean environment. Assesses the aquatic area for risks and makes recommendations to ensure a safe environment.
- Assures that facilities, supplies, and equipment are maintained and in good working order.
- Assist in the development and implementation of aquatic programs.
- Schedule and supervise lifeguards and swim instructors.
- Fulfill Lifeguard and swim instruction roles as needed.
- Assist with ensuring all staff are trained in safety and quality standards.
- Maintain records for program evaluation and reporting.
- Fulfill coaching role within the competitive swimming team (if applicable).
- Provide excellent member service and engage with members to understand their goals and enhance their experience.
- Assist in ordering equipment and supplies.
- Assist with implementing special events related to the Aquatic Department.
- All other duties as assigned.

Rock Steady Boxing is a health and wellness program designed for people with Parkinson’s, a neurological condition affecting balance, strength, walking, and especially confidence. It’s based on non-contact boxing, which has proven very effective in improving all the symptoms people experience with this disease. The Parkinson’s Foundation has been recognized Rock Steady Boxing as one of three Accredited Exercise Education programs. Rock Steady Boxing Coach responsibilities:
- Comply with the Rock Steady Boxings Affiliates established guidelines.
- Design classes that incorporate the current “Plan of the Week”, the space and equipment available and the individual levels of each boxer.
- Determine the limitations and abilities of each boxer by evaluating both their Parkinson symptoms and their overall health and fitness status.
- Offer encouragement, motivation, discipline and hope
Prerequisites for applying to be Rock Steady Boxing Coach:
- The trainee must hold ONE of the following:
- a medical professional license OR
- an NCCA-certified fitness professional or equivalent certification OR
- a degree in an exercise science-related field
- Training: 10-hour Rock Steady Boxing online training
- Additional Recertification every 2 years
- Available to work 4-5 hours per week
- Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30PM - 4:45PM
- Other class times may be available
- Ability to have FUN!

The Y is hiring part-time staff for its Before & After School program for the 2023 - 2024 school year. The staff supervises youth, as well as helps with homework, organizes gym games and plans activities for K-5 children. Applicants preferably have experience with children, but those working on degrees in education are encouraged to apply!

The Chambersburg YMCA is seeking part-time Before and After School Site Directors to work with elementary aged youth. Site Directors develop, manage, supervise, and direct the operations of a School Age Child Care location. This program provides homework assistance, recreation, arts and crafts, and other engaging activities while maintaining a safe environment for youth. Site Directors focus on the development of every child while promoting and modeling the values of the YMCA. Great opportunity for those interested in education, human services, and youth development.

The Chambersburg YMCA ARK Child Development Center is seeking qualified lead teacher applicants. Part-time and substitute positions are also available. A high school diploma and experience working with children or education in child development, early education, or a related field are required.
